When the weather is just right, cold enough to freeze but warm enough for fog to be present, a beautiful phenomenon occurs. The billowing fog is just above freezing, but all the objects it surrounds are below freezing. As the fog contacts these cold objects, enough heat is withdrawn from the mist to change its state to ice. If there is no wind, this process is gentle and builds up these beautiful ice crystals.
